چکیده

Michaels, T. E., Smith, T. H., Larsen, J., Beattie, A. D. and Pauls, K. P. 2006. OAC Rex common bean. Can. J. Plant Sci. 86: 733–736. OAC Rex is an upright indeterminate bush white bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivar intended for use in areas with greater than 2800 crop heat units. It has good yield potential in either wide or narrow row production. It is resistant to races 1 and 15 of bean common mosaic virus and is the first common bean cultivar resistant to common bacterial blight (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. phaseoli) in Ontario. Seed has acceptable cooking and canning quality.

A comparison of the molecular organization of genomic regions associated with resistance to common bacterial blight in two Phaseolus vulgaris genotypes

Resistance to common bacterial blight, caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. phaseoli, in Phaseolus vulgaris is conditioned by several loci on different chromosomes. Previous studies with OAC-Rex, a CBB-resistant, white bean variety of Mesoamerican origin, identified two resistance loci associated with the molecular markers Pv-CTT001 and SU91, on chromosome 4 and 8, respectively. Resistance to C...

Molecular characterization of dihydroneopterin aldolase and aminodeoxychorismate synthase in common bean-genes coding for enzymes in the folate synthesis pathway.

Common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) are excellent sources of dietary folates, but different varieties contain different amounts of these compounds. Genes coding for dihydroneopterin aldolase (DHNA) and aminodeoxychorismate synthase (ADCS) of the folate synthesis pathway were characterized by PCR amplification, BAC clone sequencing, and whole genome sequencing. All DHNA and ADCS genes in the Mesoa...

In silico comparison of genomic regions containing genes coding for enzymes and transcription factors for the phenylpropanoid pathway in Phaseolus vulgaris L. and Glycine max L. Merr

Legumes contain a variety of phytochemicals derived from the phenylpropanoid pathway that have important effects on human health as well as seed coat color, plant disease resistance and nodulation. However, the information about the genes involved in this important pathway is fragmentary in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). The objectives of this research were to isolate genes that function ...

Identity recognition in response to different levels of genetic relatedness in commercial soya bean

Identity recognition systems allow plants to tailor competitive phenotypes in response to the genetic relatedness of neighbours. There is limited evidence for the existence of recognition systems in crop species and whether they operate at a level that would allow for identification of different degrees of relatedness. Here, we test the responses of commercial soya bean cultivars to neighbours ...

Morpho-Physiological Characterization Related to Drought Tolerance of Common Bean (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.) Genotypes

Drought is one of the limiting factor in common bean, development of common bean varieties that adapted to drought situations is the main focus for improving food crops. In this study, 25 genotypes of common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were grown under drought stress and non-stress conditions. The field work was conducted at Melkassa Agricultural Research Center during the off-season that lai...
